Thunder beyond the Arch

Chimes of Freedom in Yellowstone. My nights were set on fire, by a stunning Milky Way, by a display of the Aurora Borealis, and the next day, a symphony of lightning. I followed it down from Mammoth Hot Springs, to the town of Gardiner, Yellowstone's North entrance. Here, there's the famous Roosevelt arch, with its famous words: "For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People". Not these words however came to my mind, when the lightning was flashing, but the ones of my favorite artist, Bob Dylan. He wrote: "Far between the finished sundown an' midnight's broken toll We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds Seeming the be the chimes of freedom flashing" The sky was put in a great variety of colors, for seconds, giving a display of nature's power and its great effects. My mind went to 1995 when the first wolves came through this very arch to be reintroduced. Chimes for their freedom, as the lightning kept going.

Milky Way over Dunraven Pass

here was no moon, all stars had risen, and above Mt. Washburn the Milky Way stretched itself. It was a cold night, but the incredible light of the sky was warming. There were no people. The dead trees seem to come alive by the bright energy coming from above. I felt tiny, bowed down by the power of what immensity came above me, it was overwhelming. In one of the darkest places of Yellowstone I was lit, as was the sky. My presence was humbled by infinity. This is an image of July 16th, from a photo taken atop of Dunraven Pass.

The Northern Lights in Iceland are a true spectacle as this image proves. Colorful and in all shapes and forms.

An Aurora display in Yellowstone

Rarely the Aurora Borealis is to be seen in Yellowstone National Park, but in the summer of 2017 the horizon displayed the colors of the Northern Lights.

First lightning

This image is my second ever captured lightning photo, but my first within Yellowstone. The display from Dunraven Pass was amazing and the drums seemed to be rolling all around.

The sky doesn't sleep

The little cross at a small graveyard somewhere in Iceland stands still forever, while the sky above is as lively as it can be. Going on forever...

Aurora Borealis at Okobojo

The sky was set on fire and the green and purple columns were plenty for hours. Even though not always easy to see with the bare eye, the camera registered one of the most beautiful phenomenons on planet earth perfectly.
