Lower Antelope Canyon

Lower Antelope Canyon. After a great lunch with friends in Flagstaff, I decided to go to Page by myself to see if I could get into Antelope Canyon. The days prior my arrival to Arizona I found out all tours pretty much are fully booked, some special photo tours even one year ahead. My friends decided to not tag along, not willing to risk all their day for not be able to enter. My entire trip exists of occasions like this, and even though the information the tour companies gave me wasn't very encouraging, I still went on, with a positive mind, and drove the two hours from Flagstaff to Page. Here I surprisingly found a free affordable room in a motel, despite the internet telling me all was fully booked. The girl checking me in even got me a spot for the upper Antelope canyon tour, even though prime time (between 10:30am and 1pm; because of possible light beams falling in ) was not possible, I still got my way into it. The next morning I check out and head to the Lower canyon first. Here I see an enormous amount of cars already, but I manage myself to talk into a tour right away. Tours and guides are mandatory. There are so many groups in such a narrow canyon, that it seems like a most popular Disneyland attraction. We slowly move to the entrance, descend, and enter into one of the most beautiful and divine places I have ever seen. The different colors of orange are shocking to my eyes, and desperately I manually try to photograph it all in low light and under time pressure. The guide helps me out, but I can't stop gasping and gazing at this wonder of nature. Soon I'm at the tail of our group and more than once the guide has to summon me to move faster. I can't, I really can't take two steps without being blown away by other forms and colors of the rocks. This place was on my list for years to visit, but it is exceeding all expectations. Wow! In this first photo I post the guide created a sandfall to add some effect to the photo and it is one of the few shots I have with no people in the narrow path. Antelope Canyon is magic.
